Facebook's New Timeline Search Setting

Yeah! I know. Just when you thought it was safe to go in the water. Only now, it's even tougher. It's not just about watching out for Sharks. You have to worry about how far from shore you are and how deep the water you are. By that I mean, friends of friends friends who are friends with a page with a group... or some such nonsense.  It's not like anybody really knows what all that stuff means anyway. It's too much for us mortals. That's why Einstein waited for Al Gore to create the Internet. He knew he wouldn't be able to explain it to us blunt skull members of the Earth is Flat Society. We just figured out what the Timeline is, and now Facebook has changed something again. So the question is...What are you going to do about the Snarks with the long tail now?

What Are Snarks With The Long Tail?

You know. Snarks.Those idjits that find about you, then try to claim all your friends by creating an account that looks like yours? It's the fusing together of sharks and snakes. Snarks. The new change doesn't mean you're going to be any more 'visible' to them than you were, but it may shorten the time it takes for the snarks to find you. So let's take a look to see what you should do.
Up At The Top Of Your Screen... You'll see something like this.

What's It Say? 

If you click on it you're going to get a bunch of mumble jumble about how good you should feel that they are taking care of this for you, how this is going to make it easier for everyone, and it's one small step for mankind. Read it if you want, just remember this.  The name of the setting they are removing is called "Who can look up your Timeline by name."  So if it's removed, the answer would seem to be 'anybody', but that's not really the case. You still have just as much control as you ever have over who views your timeline.  So take 3 minutes to watch the video below and see how to choose who can see your stuff.  I think that's the best advice anyone can really give you. Nobody can really tell you what you're settings should be.  This video will just make it a bit easier to find where to go to adjust them.
