You sit there with a cup of coffee, staring at a blank page. Just like me, you hear these phrases often. "You should write more. Your words are good." Yet, like many, you never take the time.
Sure, you take a few steps in the right direction. But then you go off the rails and watch movies for five hours. You get started. But something stalls your progress.
Me too.
For example, you have a list of 'Firestarters' for titles. They are scattered through OneNote, Loop, Keep, and more. And they are covered in digital dust.
But you're not alone.
The truth is, I live this struggle. I know what it feels like to neglect one's talent. Heck, some might even say it's a calling. If you've read this far, so do you. Many of us are searching for the push—the 'thing' that sets us into motion. Whether it's writing, painting, or juggling flaming torches, we all search for motivation.
Here’s what I’ve decided. Whatever you feel you should be doing, just do it. Nike’s not wrong. Whether it's penning a sonnet or crafting a masterpiece, don't worry. If others don't get it or even like it, so what? This is what fuels life, the reason we breathe. It's the very marrow of our existence.
Remember, even if no one else encourages you, it doesn't matter. Be your own cheerleader. Don't die with your music in you. I'm 70, so my writing time is shorter than most.
So, today, I'm doing something different.
I'm moving forward.
I'm writing these words.
They might not be perfect.
They might not win awards.
But by God, they're mine.
And maybe they'll help you write yours too. I hope so.
Because the truth is, we're all just one sentence away from being writers.
One brush stroke from being painters.
One note from being musicians.
If you're waiting on me, you're backing up.
This blog isn't just for you; it's for me, too. It's a reminder that now is the time. If not now, when?
